2017 Asia Pacific Golf Summit @ Sheraton Hotel
Nov 14 – Nov 16 all-day

The 2017 Asia Pacific Golf Summit (APGS), the eleventh in the series and the best and only summit on the business of golf, will be staged on November 14-16, 2017.

The host city is the Vietnamese city of Danang and the host venue will be the brand new five-star Sheraton Hotel, host hotel to the 2017 APEC Ministerial Conference.

The Summit host is the multi-faceted BRG Group, a corporation with interest in hotels, resorts, real estate development and golf course operations.

APGS 2017 will mark the start of a brand new decade for the Summit and after staging more than 400 speakers, the Summit this year will focus on technology and how it is affecting and impacting the entire golf club operations. The Summit is designed to address the provision of solutions to key issues challenging the club management industry; to recognise the best amongst the best; to promote greater camaraderie and bring about industry alignment.

That said, the theme for APGS 2017 is NEW DIRECTIONS for the golf club industry. There is no denying that the club industry is going through phases of change and evolution driven by the advent of technology, changing demographics and consumption patterns.

Perhaps the most critical NEW DIRECTION has to do with technology led by the ubiquitous smartphone and mobile applications. The club industry needs to be made aware of the over-riding influence and impact that mobile platforms are already having on how clubs manage their operations and deal with their members. If anything at all, mobile platforms are causing a seismic change for the better in the club industry and there is no escaping the good things that this technological revolution is bringing to the industry.

The sweeping technological change of the landscape is not confined just to club operations. It is also impacting the overall care and maintenance of golf courses. Mobile apps are helping the turf industry look after and manage golf courses like never before and like all forms of automation that is controlled by smartphone apps, the turf industry is proving to be an early adopter.

With all of these changes taking place at a lightning pace, there is an urgent need to look at ageing golf courses in Asia, of which there are many. This presents an opportunity and a second chance for owners and operators to re-invent their facilities and bring about a renaissance in golf where the focus will be on streamlined facilities engineered to grow the game of golf and start a revolution that impacts the bottom-line positively.

In the weeks ahead, we will be fleshing out the Summit’s programme and speakers and you can rest assured that APGS 2017 will be another world class event. Details on booking your place will be made available by April.
